    Public Tour: Kentucky Renaissance: The Lexington Camera Club and Its Community, 1954-74

    The Cincinnati Art Museum is organizing a major exhibition of photographs, prints, books, and other artworks made in Lexington, Kentucky, during the third quarter of the 20th century. The Lexington Camera Club, an organization devoted to the art and craft of photography, anchors the exhibition. This exhibition is the Art Museum’s signal presentation for the FotoFocus 2016 Biennial, a region-wide celebration of photography.

    Sketching Sunday

    Slow down on the first Sunday of each month and see the museum in a new way through sketching. Bring your own sketching supplies, or stop by the Main Lobby to borrow one of our supply kits and sketchbook. Then sketch wherever you would like, or pick up one of our prompts to jump start your creativity.

    Reservations not required. A $5 deposit is required to check out a supplies kit and will be refunded upon return of the kit. See the Visitor Services desk in the Main Lobby for more information.

    A partnership with the University of Cincinnati's Classics Department, this exciting re-installation and re-imagination of the ancient world allows visitors to begin their journey through the history of art with the story of ancient Western civilizations with Egyptian, Greek, and Roman objects that are organized thematically for the first time. The installation includes some pieces that have never been on view before.

    Memories in the Museum: Community

    Join the Taft Museum of Art, the Contemporary Arts Center, the Cincinnati Art Museum, and the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Cincinnati on the first Wednesday of each month for Memories in the Museum.  This program is designed for visitors with memory loss and their guests.  Each session will include a tour, light refreshments, and an opportunity to participate in making art.  Participants will observe and engage in conversation about artwork within three of Cincinnati’s historic art institutions.

    Public Tour: Van Gogh: Into the Undergrowth

    Centered on the Cincinnati Art Museum’s Undergrowth with Two Figures, the exhibition explores the significance of the forest interior, or sous-bois, to the art of Vincent van Gogh.  Into the Undergrowth traces the evolution of the artist’s style and techniques through this special group of landscape paintings spanning his career.  Featuring more than 20 works on loan from American, Asian, and European collections, this exhibition allows visitors to compare Van Gogh’s treatment of this theme with examples by those who influenced and inspired him, including Théodore Rousseau, Paul Cézanne, Claude Monet and Paul Gauguin.
