Here are Eleonora of Toledo and her son, Don Francesco de’ Medici watching while their frame is being prepared to receive them.  The oil-on-wood painting by Agnolo Bronzino, dated to around 1550, has undergone a complete conservation treatment, including varnish and retouching removal, revarnishing, and inpainting.  The old glass has been removed and the back of the frame has been reduced in depth.  Look for the double portrait to be re-installed in the Renaissance and Baroque gallery, G202, next week.
