Reel Art
Join us for the next season of Reel Art. This spring, celebrate the art of storytelling with films directed by Curator of Photography James Crump, Sedat Pakay, Jim Jarmusch, Kent MacKenzie, and Jon Alpert.
After the Sunday 1 p.m. screening, take a staff- or docent-led tour through a special exhibition or permanent collections. Tours are limited to 30 visitors each and require advance reservations by phone.
Reservations required. Individual screenings are $10 general admission; $5 Art Museum members, students, and seniors. Free parking included with ticket. To purchase tickets, call (513) 721-ARTS or click here.

Walker Evans/ America (2000) Friday, June 18, 7 p.m. Sunday, June 20, 1 p.m. After the film join Curator of Photography James crump to tour the exhibition Walker Evans Decade by Decade. Director: Sedat Pakay
Walker Evans/ America profiles the great American photographer Walker Evans (1903-1975), whose style influenced an entire generation photographers. A pioneer of the documentary style of photography, Evans was the first photographer to have a one-man retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art. His photographs, from southern sharecroppers to New York subway riders, are point-of-view images that reflect his distinctive vision of America.

Dead Man (1995) Friday, July 16 , 7 p.m. Sunday, July 18, 1 p.m. Following the film tour the SEE AMERICA exhibition Director: Jim Jarmusch A dark, bitter commentary on modern American life cloaked in the form of a surrealist western, Jim Jarmusch's Dead Man stars Johnny Depp as William Blake, a newly-orphaned accountant who leaves his home in Cleveland to accept a job in the frontier town of Machine.

The Exiles (1961) Friday, August 6, 7 p.m. Sunday, August 8, 1 p.m. Following the film, tour the wild west of the Cincinnati Art Museum. Director: Kent MacKenzie The story concerns a trio of young Native Americans who decide to leave the reservation. Once they've reached Los Angeles, the three protagonists find themselves just as lost and isolated as they would have been in the middle of the desert.

The Last Cowboys (2005) Friday, August 20, 7 p.m. Sunday, August 22, 1 p.m. Followed by a tour of American artwork. Director: Jon Alpert
Twenty-three years in the making, Jon Alpert's THE LAST COWBOY follows Vern Sager, a real American cowboy, through his hardscrabble life in one of the most isolated places in America. Out on the range with temperatures so extreme a herd can freeze overnight, Vern faces an army of adversaries: cattle rustlers, international agribusiness, old age, the weather and the wanderlust of his own family.
