Thomas Struth and Thomas Ruff, two documentaries by Ralph Goertz, explore the creative processes of these master German photographers. Both Struth and Ruff studied with Bernd & HIlla Becher at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. Both made their earliest photographic series in the late 1970s and early 1980s, and both have ascended to the pinnacle of contemporary art photography. They have exhibited at major museums and galleries around the world. For those who have seen and enjoyed the CAM exhibition Field Guide: Photographs by Jochen Lempert, come learn about German photographers of the same generation who work very differently, creating large-scale color images of myriad subjects, from science labs and museum crowds to family portraits and verdant forests. Please note: the films are in German with English subtitles.
