Cincinnati Art Museum Celebrate the #AllStarGame in #cincinnati with our Warhol and Baseball exhibition! For the first time on record, the Cincinnati Art Museum brings together Andy Warhol’s three known paintings of baseball players, each of whom rose to the level of pop celebrity during his lifetime. This exhibition includes; - CAM’s 1985 painting of Cincinnati Reds player-manager, Pete Rose, commissioned in anticipation of Rose breaking Ty Cobb’s record of 4,191 hits. - "Baseball", 1962, on loan from the Nelson-Atkins Museum, portraying Roger Maris - The 1977 portrait of Tom Seaver, who pitched his only no hitter as a member of the Cincinnati Reds, lent by the Andy Warhol Museum. Art Project

The Art Project, Powered by Google Cultural Institute

 

The Cincinnati Art Museum launched its involvement with the Art Project in April 2013, joining over 500 acclaimed art partners from across more than 60 countries that work to preserve and promote culture online. The Art Project currently features nearly 400 works from the Art Museum's collection highlights and Cincinnati Wing collection. This technology allows people around the world to explore the Art Museum’s paintings, sculptures, and other objects in never-before-seen angles and in great detail with the click of a mouse.

 

One of the Art Museum’s most beloved paintings, Vincent van Gogh’s Undergrowth with Two Figures, is now featured as a “Gigapixel Image,” photographed in ultra-high resolution, allowing users to examine the rich details, exquisite texture and intricacy of this recently-conserved work.

 

The Google Art Project Street View team also mapped the Art Museum so visitors can now virtually tour our galleries with 360-degree panoramic views.

 

The Art Project allows us as an institution to showcase a world-class collection, fulfilling our mission to bring people and art together. It is an invaluable resource to educators, students and art enthusiasts alike. Teachers are already using the Art Project to supplement learning in their classrooms as the education section provides a multitude of ideas and resources that can be utilized in a variety of learning environments.
