Cincinnati Art Museum Behind the Scenes in Conservation: New dimensions in treating our collections Our textile conservator has been preparing a colorful 1950s silk jumpsuit by Tina Leser for photography. Unfortunately two of the original wildly floral gold-plated buttons were missing. Our friends at Ethicon Endo-Surgery in Blue Ash have come to the rescue. They borrowed one of the buttons, performed a digital 3-d scan of it and printed hard-plastic copies from the scan with their highest quality 3-d printer. We are very happy with the results (below). Back in Textiles Conservation the copies will be gilded and painted, the replacements will be attached to the jumpsuit, and the spares will be carefully stowed away. A big thank you to Mark Ransick and all the team at Ethicon! 3 hour ago via Facebook
