The Pastel Journal & Poetic Pastels

Curator of European Paintings, Drawings, and Sculpture, Dr. Esther Bell  wrote the feature article for the October 2013 issue of The Pastel Journal. The journal will be available in local bookstores, the Art Museum gift shop, the Mary R. Schiff Library & Archives, and online. The article entitled “Degas, Renoir, and Poetic Pastels,” explores the rebirth of the pastel medium—compliments of an astute entrepreneur and a group of talented artists—in nineteenth-century France.

An exhibition of the same title will open at the Cincinnati Art Museum October 26, 2013 - click here for details.
