Cincinnati Art Museum Have you met "Ghost Cat"? :) Why do you think a cat was roaming around CAM in the 1940s? What would you have named this spooky kitty? Interesting to think about! Our Mary R. Schiff Library Archivist Geoff found some interesting info on the history of felines at the Art Museum... “As it happens, I was looking through some of the museum’s old account books recently and noticed there used to be a weekly order for “cat meat”. Could this have been an offering to appease the spirit of ghost cat..? Or maybe it was just to feed the museum’s resident mouser, but that’s not so spooky!” #throwbackthursday #halloween. Evenings for Educators: See It & Make It: Daoism in Art

4:00 – 7:00 p.m. (registration and refreshments 4-5 p.m., program begins at 5 p.m.)

A spin off from the popular “Make It & Take Its” this year we are hosting two “See It & Make Its,” which include docent-led tours through a special exhibition and a hands-on art making component in response to the art viewed. This evening, curators present on the exhibition, Realm of the Immortals: Daoist Art in the Cincinnati Art Museum. Following, we explore ways to integrate the concepts of Chinese Daoism as both a philosophy and “folk religion” into classroom curricula.

$10 Art Museum Members; $20 non-members; $5 students. Reservations required. For more information, email school&[email protected]  

 

 

Participating teachers will receive CEU certificates in May.

Graduate credit available for an additional fee through Ashland University.
