Cincinnati Art Museum #ThrowbackThursday Students gather on the lawn of the Art Academy of Cincinnati in the 1920’s. Join us this Sunday March 29th at 11:30 when Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County 's On the Same Page Book Club will discuss the twenties classic The Great Gatsby. Pastel, a preferred medium for the eighteenth-century elite, falls from favor after the French Revolution. Thanks to an inventive generation of artists, the medium undergoes a rebirth less than a century later, producing some of the most important and celebrated works ever created. Dr. Esther Bell, Curator of European Paintings, Drawings, and Sculpture explores Degas, Renoir, and their contemporaries and their unique contribution to French art of the nineteenth century.
