Cincinnati Art Museum Brush up on your art history knowledge this week by coming to one or all of these lectures at CAM: 10.22 @ 7:00 p.m. FREE: the Archaeological Institute of America presents Kara Cooney - Egyptologist who will follow the unconventional life of an almost-forgotten pharaoh Hatshepsut, the second female king of ancient Egypt. 10.23 @ 7:00 p.m. FREE: Contemporary photographer Paul Graham will speak about his process and work, paying special attention to his work on view in the Eyes on the Street exhibition. 10.26 @ 2:00 p.m. $12 for non-members: Dr. Wanda Corn will examine American Gothic and its strange odyssey from the studio of an unknown Iowan artist 75 years ago to its international celebrity status today. On the Road to Rookwood

Maria Longworth Storer founded the Rookwood Pottery Company in 1880, not only to bring the art of pottery to Cincinnati, but also to provide a good wage to working women. We will celebrate Rookwood Pottery, recognized internationally as an example of fine art pottery, on Saturday, March 1, 2014. Anita Ellis, Deputy Director for Curatorial Affairs, Cincinnati Art Museum and Riley Humler of Humler & Nolan, 12-year Appraiser on Antiques Roadshow, will identify and describe your two Rookwood treasures.
