Cincinnati Art Museum OPENING TODAY: Woohoo! It's a long weekend! You should swing by CAM to check out our NEW permanent contemporary #art gallery! #free This new permanent collection gallery, located on the Museum’s second-floor ambulatory, will display approximately 35 pieces from the Nancy and David Wolf Collection of contemporary art in ceramics, glass and wood, and will be periodically rotated to feature new selections. The Wolfs have gifted over 200 works of art to the Cincinnati Art Museum, positioning our institution as one of the foremost centers for the study and enjoyment of contemporary craft. On the Road to Rookwood

Maria Longworth Storer founded the Rookwood Pottery Company in 1880, not only to bring the art of pottery to Cincinnati, but also to provide a good wage to working women. We will celebrate Rookwood Pottery, recognized internationally as an example of fine art pottery, on Saturday, March 1, 2014. Anita Ellis, Deputy Director for Curatorial Affairs, Cincinnati Art Museum and Riley Humler of Humler & Nolan, 12-year Appraiser on Antiques Roadshow, will identify and describe your two Rookwood treasures.

 

Sessions at 9:30am-12pm or 12:30-3pm
