Regionalist Roundtables

September 24, 2014 - 03:00 pm to 04:00 pm

Every Wednesday and Sunday, 3 p.m. from August 31-November 16, 2014

Contemplate.  Chat.  Change the way you think about American Gothic.

Join us each Wednesday and Sunday at 3 p.m. for a conversation about American artists Grant Wood, John Steuart Curry, and Thomas Hart Benton.  These three artists are featured in the special exhibition Conversations around American Gothic, which places the iconic painting in context among other masterworks such as the Art Museum’s Daughters of Revolution.

Each conversation will begin with a question that addresses a big idea explored within the exhibition.  Art Museum staff and visitors will engage in a dialogue that will help to provide new contexts for American paintings of the 1920s and 30s.  Because we each bring our own perspectives to these artworks, no two conversations will be the same.  Come back often and explore Conversations around American Gothic with your fellow art lovers.

This is a free program, but requires a Conversations around American Gothic exhibition admission ticket.

**This program will not occur on Sunday, October 26 due to the lecture The Three Lives of Grant Wood's American Gothicwith Dr. Wanda Corn.
