Summer Classes

Summer ARTventures Classes 

Summer 2013

 

Here’s the place for fun and creativity. Delve into art this summer with eight weeks of classes at the Cincinnati Art Museum. Each class is packed with exciting art projects, gallery games, and fun! Each week, children will discover all aspects of visual art through various themes and activities. Special themes classes are designed for children ages 5-8 or 9-12 and taught by highly skilled educators and museum staff.

  • Classes will be held from 9:00-11:30 and 1:00-3:30  on Tuesdays and Thursdays
  • Tuesday (ages 5-8) & Thursday (ages 9-12)
  • Each class will consist of a one hour gallery experience, a snack, and a one hour studio experience.

 

Registration:

Registration begins April 1

Enrollment is limited to 30/session.

To reserve a space, full payment must be received.

Reservations Required. $10 members, $20 non-members. Series pricing available: all 8 classes for $60 members, $120 non-members

Registration fee includes all art materials and daily snack.

Refund policy:

A $15 charge will be applied for all cancellations before June 1, 2012. No refunds will be granted after June 1, 2012.

 

 

Art Safari

Grab your binoculars and take a safari through our galleries in search of animals big and small. Search for the colors, patterns, and textures of your favorite animals and make your own animal inspired artwork.

Mix It Up

Jump into this class full of creativity as we use all different materials to make unusual art. Learn about mixed media artwork and create a mixed up masterpiece.

Born & Raised

Foster your Cincinnati pride in these classes built around the art and characteristics of our city. Tour our Cincinnati Wing and learn about what it means to be a Cincinnati native.

Sand, Sea & Me

Calling all beach bums! We will use our imaginations to spend time lounging on the beach and even better, making art! We’ll learn about the work of Cincinnati artist Edward Henry Potthast and make a beachy creation.

Trash to Treasure

Got trash? No such thing. Save those bottles, milk jugs, and egg cartons because we are about to show you how to make that trash into something you can treasure. Learn about contemporary artists who use their trash to make art and find out how it’s done.

Museum Magic

Join us for an exciting behind-the-scenes look into our conservation lab. Work with our conservation department to learn how they get our collection to look so great. Try your hand at polishing silver and feel the magic.

Art Lab

Sometimes the best art is made by mistake. You’ll get a chance to experiment with different materials and learn about some of the cool things you can make by testing ideas. Throw caution to the wind and learn how artists do this in their own studios.

Time Warp

Ever wish you could travel back in time? Well now you can! Journey back by taking a look at the artwork in our collection—some of which is as old as 6,000 years. Learn about how they made art back then and adopt some of their techniques to make art in a whole new way.
