[1] Although it is not known when Dr. and Mrs. Benjamin acquired the painting, it may have been in their collection as early as 1921 when the couple loaned a painting by Jacquet, and three other works, to an exhibition of French paintings at the CAM, organized by the Ladies Auxiliary Committee, March 17 to March 31. No checklist with titles and dimensions of the exhibited paintings exists to clarify if Head of a Young Woman was included. The list of lenders and artists is held in the CAM archives, Director's Incoming Correspondence, Box 90, Folder F, page 747.
