This specimen of woven fiber cloth forms part of a large
collection of grass and plantain fiber-woven textiles assembled by Steckelmann.
In the Descriptive Catalogue to the collection on exhibit, Steckelmann
notes, “These materials will one day attract more attention from
manufactures of textile fabrics in European and America.”
