Visitor Support Team (full-time)

The Cincinnati Art Museum has an opening for a full-time visitor support team member (security guard) in the Security Department.

Responsibilities: The visitor support team member is primarily responsible for providing and demonstrating excellent customer service to the public, monitoring the galleries, assisting with the training of new hire and part-time visitor support team personnel, and ensuring all visitors and staff abide by the security procedures in the Art Museum. In addition, the visitor support team member is a valuable team player in implementing new ideas to the Art Museum in connection to the visitor experience and other frontline initiatives. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Monitoring artwork and museum areas to ensure safety and security
  • Greeting all Art Museum visitors in an outgoing and friendly manner
  • Providing exemplary customer service to all visitors and internal staff on a daily basis
  • Monitoring alarm systems throughout the Art Museum
  • Checking the Art Museum for leaks or other system failures
  • Dispersing and collecting keys and key cards, and signing in and out outside vendors and visitors in a friendly manner
  • Creating daily work lists, answering phones for Security Department and assisting with the lost and found log
  • Assisting with new name badges, absentee reports, relaying messages, and monitoring employee and delivery entrance.
  • Handling administrative duties and projects when assigned by a supervisor


Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent. Must have an ability to communicate information effectively to others and work well in a team environment.  Must possess excellent customer service experience, as well as be outgoing in nature and team oriented. In addition, the visitor support team member must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents; effectively communicate with visitors in person and on phone calls; and present information and respond to questions from visitors. Knowledge of security practices/procedures is preferred.  Must have the ability to work well under pressure and during emergency situations. Must be flexible with hours, including some nights and weekends, as well as have reliable transportation to and from the Art Museum.

Physical Demands: Incumbent will be required to walk and move about work location on foot, and work will include periods of standing, sitting, and use of stairs as needed. May be required to lift and/or move items of moderate weight as needed.

Work Environment: Generally, inside Museum location. May be required to assist in the parking lot during events. May be required to move about in attic spaces above ceilings and mechanical areas.  All work assignments are subject to change.
