The Conservation of Zurbarán’s St. Peter Nolasco Recovering the Image of the Virgin
Come meet our new Chief Conservator! Chief Conservator and Paintings Conservator Serena Urry will discuss the treatment of Francesco Zurbarán’s St. Peter Nolasco Recovering the Image of the Virgin in the Spanish Gallery. This large masterpiece, dated to 1630, has been off-view while undergoing treatment in the Conservation lab for over a year. It was cleaned and restored by a paintings conservator here at the Art Museum on a fellowship funded by the Kress Foundation. Serena performed the finishing touches of the conservation treatment upon her arrival before the painting was re-installed in early February.
