Journey across the universe at the Cincinnati Art Museum at Art After Dark on Sept. 29

CINCINNATI— Discover the awe-inspiring beauty, mystery and interconnectedness of the universe at the Cincinnati Art Museum’s FREE event Art After Dark: Across the Universe, Friday, September 29, 5–9 p.m.

Across the Universe celebrates the boundless connections in nature revealed in the exhibition Ana England: Kinship, on view through March 4, 2018. England is based in Felicity, Ohio (about 35 miles southeast of Cincinnati). For three decades, she led the ceramics program at Northern Kentucky University, where she is now Professor Emerita. England’s work has been widely published and exhibited both nationally and internationally.

Art After Dark guests will experience live music from psychedelic band Playfully Yours, Venezuelan cuisine from Empanadas Aqui, specialty cocktails inspired by artworks in Kinship (guests 21+) and exclusive after-hours access to the entire museum.

Also on view are dazzling light-based installation Anila Quayyum Agha: All the Flowers are for Me and powerful film-based installation William Kentridge: More Sweetly Play the Dance.

The timeline for Art After Dark includes:

  • 5–6 p.m.:Happy hour including specialty cocktails inspired by Kinship.
  • 6–8 p.m.:Live music from psychedelic band Playfully Yours in the Great Hall.
  • 5–9 p.m.: Food available for purchase from food truckEmpanadas Aqui near the Pinocchio statue.
  • 5–9 p.m.: Free, after-hours access to Ana England: Kinship. Docents will be in the galleries to answer questions. Due to large crowds, guided tours will not be offered.
  • 5–9 p.m.: Guests may complete a survey for a chance to win a family 4-pack to Grass Roots: Art of Nature at Krohn Conservatory and 2 tickets to St. Vincent de Paul – Cincinnati and the University of Cincinnati’s DAAP’s RetroFittings, a fashion show that features the fashion designs of DAAP students.

Art After Dark is free and open to the public. Parking is free.
