Studio Class: Storytelling Through Collage

February 2, 9, 16, 23, March 2, and 9
6–7:45 p.m.

Become a better artist with these weekly studio classes for students of different ages and abilities. Classes meet every Thursday night for six weeks and will build on traditional art-making techniques. Full course registration only. Children must be at least 6 years old to participate. Students under 12 must be accompanied by an adult who is also enrolled in the class.

In Nick Bantock’s books Griffin and Sabine: An Extraordinary Correspondence, Griffin (a postcard designer from London) and Sabine (a stamp designer from the South Pacific) are two people from opposite ends of the world that are brought together by a common vision. Their visual and written language shares a common bond that unites the two of them. Explore imaginative worlds using collage materials and text to create postcards that reflect a plot, characters, and a story of your own design. Develop voice and personal imagery to write and design collaged postcards.
