Conserva tion of East Asian scroll paintings is an ancient art\, which requires sp ecialized skills and a particular type of expertise. In this lecture\, Qi an He will introduce this art form by sharing his experiences treating nu merous Chinese paintings in both museums and private collections. Using s pecific examples\, He will help us gain a better understanding of the uni que Chinese restoration techniques of cleaning\, repairing\, and remounti ng.

About the speaker:
Qian He is a fourth-generation art conservato r from Beijing. He has worked as a conservator of Chinese painting and an instructor at the Chinese Academy of Cultural Heritage in Beijing. He cu rrently serves as Asian Art Conservator and leads the conservation labora tory at the University of Michigan Museum of Art. \;
