 leware may seem familiar—like something you have seen in your grandparent
 s’ china cabinet or a second-hand shop. Look closer and you will notice s
 ubtle differences that add up to a powerful narrative shift. Scott subver
 ts this seemingly unassuming blue-and-white “cultural wallpaper” to creat
 e sharp\, thought-provoking social commentary. This talk will detail the 
 movement of patterns and images through media\, histories\, and geographi
 es as blue-and-white ceramics became imbued with meaning and embedded in 
 memory. Scott will discuss his process of creating new commemoratives for
  the 21st century and outline some of the hidden stories and unexpected c
 onnections found through his extensive research in ceramic industry archi
