Jane Busse: Innovations in Weaving

June 9–September 2, 2018

Become a Member

Commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Weavers Guild of Greater Cincinnati, this exhibition features the work of local weaver Jane Busse (1917–1987). She became known for using techniques such as shaft switch, meet and separate and crossed wefts to create unique rugs that were often used as wall hangings. Her designs play with shape, color and texture to produce eye-catching compositions in wool. Included alongside Busse’s rugs are hand-drawn illustrations that she used to map out her ideas before weaving began.
