It’s back-to-school time at the Cincinnati Art Museum! This past school year, we welcomed 9,320 students through our doors.
Of those, 5,616 students participated in docent-guided tours, engaging directly with our over 65 volunteers in the gallery spaces. From September through May, we hosted 160 docent-guided tours—a 14.05% increase from the previous school year!
We’re excited to welcome even more students this year with a new program, Gallery to Studio, and the return of fan favorites: Flo Koetter’s 4th Grade Program and Barbara Weyand’s Cincinnati Public School Program. Each of these programs includes a one-hour docent-guided tour followed by an art-making activity. Our Marek Weaver Family Commons space is nearly a year old and has become a much-needed area for students to reflect on what they’ve learned and enjoy lunch during their visit.
We’re also supporting educators through professional development opportunities, including our Evenings for Educators series. The first program takes place on Thursday, September 18 at 4 p.m. and is themed around the special exhibition, Farm to Table: Food and Identity in the Age of Impressionism.
Whether through docent-guided experiences or self-guided tours, the museum continues to be a vibrant learning space for students. We’re deeply grateful to our dedicated docents, educators, and school partners who make these experiences possible. We hope you had a great summer, and we can’t wait to see you in the galleries this fall!
