Summer vibes abound at the Cincinnati Art Museum on June 29

CINCINNATI— Kick off the sunniest season of the year at the Cincinnati Art Museum’s FREE evening event Art After Dark: Summer Shakedown, Friday, June 29, 5–9 p.m.

Summer Shakedown is a celebration of all things summer, featuring live reggae from The Cliftones, specialty cocktails, food for purchase from Greater’s Ice Cream and Eli’s BBQ (while supplies last), and access to the entire museum, including free admission to Terracotta Army: Legacy of the First Emperor of China.

Access to Terracotta Army is limited. Facebook RSVP does not guarantee tickets. Admission is free, but visitors must pick up timed tickets in-person at the visitor services desk in the front lobby beginning at 4:30 p.m. on event day. Visitors may stand in line for tickets outside the front entrance of the museum beginning at 3:30 p.m. on event day.

Also on view is special feature Cagnacci: Painting Beauty and Death, which brings together a select group of Italian Baroque paintings for the first time: three works by Guido Cagnacci and one by Bernardo Strozzi. The centerpiece of the special feature is the oil on canvas Death of Cleopatra (1660-62) on loan from the Pinacoteca de Brera (Brera Paintings Gallery) in Milan, Italy.

The timeline for Art After Dark includes:

  • 5–6 p.m.:Happy hour, including specialty cocktails (guests 21+).
  • 6–8 p.m.: Live music from The Cliftones in the Alice Bimel Courtyard.
  • 5–9 p.m.: Ice cream for purchase from Graeter’s outside near Pinocchio. While supplies last.
  • 5–9 p.m.: Food available for purchase from Eli’s BBQ near the Terrace Café. While supplies last.
  • 5–9 p.m.: Guests may complete a survey for chance to win a Greater’s gift card.
