Notes: [1] The painting was listed as being in the artist's collection in Carl Einstein, Die Kunst des 20. Jahrhunderts, Berlin: Im Propyläen Verlag, 1931, no. 341. [2] Exhibited at the Bignou Gallery, New York, Picasso Early and Late, February 10-March 1, 1941, no. 8. The gallery has consistently been included in the painting's provenance, thus, it appears to have been owned by the gallery and not simply loaned for the exhibition. [3] Published as being in the Charles Adler collection in Art News, "Cincinnati's New Collectors," vol. 44, no. 15, November 15-30, 1945, p. 15.
