Gustave Caillebotte [1848-1894], Paris, by at least 1879-1893, by descent to [1]; Albert Chardeau, France, by at least 1939 [2]. (Matignon Art Galleries, Inc. Paris, ?-January 7, 1950, sold to); (Rosenberg & Stiebel, New York, January 7, 1950-January 6, 1953, sold to); Cincinnati Art Museum, 1953-present. Notes: [1] ] Caillebotte, an artist and collector of Impressionist art, bequeathed his collection to the French government in 1894. Cabbage Patch Near the Village was included in Caillebotte's 1894 estate, but was rejected by the State and returned to his family. [2] Albert Chardeau was the son-in-law of Martial Caillebotte, Gustave's brother. The painting was published as being in his collection in Ludovico Rodo Pissarro and Lionello Venturi, Camille Pissarro, Paris, 1939, p. 124, no. 312. The painting may have remained in his collection until 1950. Also see corresondence, May 17, 2000, and September 21, 2001. [3] The Museum acquired the painting with funds provided by Albert P.
