Join us for the release of Anubhuti: Experiencing Muthusvami Dikshitar, an exploration of the life, legacy, and travels of the colonial-era composer. Author Kanniks Kannikeswaran will sign copies and present a talk detailing Dikshitar's integrative approach, innovation, and surprising American connections in his adaptation of colonial tunes. Discover how this nineteenth-century visionary fused diverse musical traditions, crafting a distinct portrait of Indian temple traditions and distilling the essence of ancient knowledge systems. This event is free and open to the public.
Kanniks Kannikeswaran is an internationally renowned composer and educator known for his pioneering work in Indian American choral music; he previously premiered his acclaimed film on the composer, Colonial Interlude, at the Cincinnati Art Museum in 2023.
