Drawing inspiration from L.A. Roberts’ panoramic landscape painting, Yosemite Valley, 2025 Rosenthal Education Center Artist in Residence Karen Saunders’s interactive installation, You and Me and the Space Between: Our Expedition Starts Now, invites you to step into a landscape painting—a playful space to explore scale and awe. Karen is a multi-disciplinary artist who hopscotched across the Midwest before landing in Cincinnati, where she has practiced as an artist and arts educator for nearly three decades. Enjoy dinner, a presentation, and a tour.

Saunders is a multi-disciplinary artist who hopscotched across the Midwest before landing in Cincinnati, where she has practiced as an artist and arts educator for nearly three decades. She earned a BFA from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, with an emphasis on ceramics, and an MA in Art Education from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. For the better part of 20 years, Saunders has worked with diverse audiences at local institutions, including the Cincinnati Art Museum and the Kennedy Heights Arts Center, while exhibiting her work at the Contemporary Arts Center, the Canton Art Museum, the Richmond Art Museum, and the 21c Museum/Hotel.

Participants will enjoy dinner, a presentation, and a guided tour of the exhibition. For each program attended, educators earn CEUs and 1–2 graduate credits, which are available for an additional fee. 

About Evenings for Educators 

Evenings for Educators is the museum’s monthly professional development program for teachers. Through the lens of the museum’s collection and exhibitions, Evenings for Educators supports all subjects taught in the classroom. It also encourages a STREAM approach, as well as Twenty-First Century Learning strategies. The program is offered for teachers of all grade levels and disciplines, art appreciation volunteers, pre-service education majors, teaching artists, as well as community and museum educators.
