Through storytelling, painting, and poetry, artist Bakula Nayak traces a personal, reflective response to the exhibition Longing: Painting from the Pahari Kingdoms of the Northwest Himalayas. In a presentation that weaves together storytelling, poetry, demonstration, and visuals, Nayak delves into the exhibition’s themes of longing, belonging, and power, stirring questions of motherhood, migration, devotion, and the many ways longing lives within the body. Drawing on her time in Jaipur learning miniature painting practices, Nayak invites audiences into an intimate encounter with these traditions, revealing the time, care, and tenderness required to bring miniature works to life. The program culminates with a hands-on exploration of miniature painting techniques, giving participants the opportunity to create their own small artworks.
While this program is designed for adults, teens 13+ accompanied by an adult are welcome.
