Cincinnati Art Museum is listening to the community conversation regarding an element of a work of art in the broader exhibition by Paloozanoire, Black & Brown Faces: Paying Homage To. This exhibition pairs 15 Midwestern artists of color with 15 living honorees in our community. The exhibition opened on March 25, 2022, and runs through June 19, 2022.

Paloozanoire is a Cincinnati-based organization dedicated to enriching the lives of people of color throughout the Midwest in creativity, corporate leadership, and entrepreneurship. The artists in Black & Brown Faces were selected by a Paloozanoire-organized community committee and artworks were created or inspired based on interviews with honorees, designed as a reflection of their lived experiences.

Paloozanoire intended for this exhibition to bring the community together through conversations about challenging topics. This partnership supports Cincinnati Art Museum’s mission as an institution: Through the power of art, we contribute to a more vibrant Cincinnati by inspiring its people and connecting our communities. Cincinnati Art Museum appreciates the power of artists to inspire discussions in our community on issues of great importance to all of us.

We fundamentally oppose any violence against police or community members. We believe that free expression is foundational in dialogues and community partnerships.

Thousands of artists across millennia of history represent the diversity of experience in all the museum’s galleries, collections, and special exhibitions.
