The Art Project, Powered by Google Cultural Institute

The Cincinnati Art Museum joined the Google Art Project in April 2013. The project features 3,000+ acclaimed art partners from more than 80 countries that work to preserve and promote culture online. This technology allows people around the world to explore the museum’s paintings, sculptures, and other objects in never-before-seen angles and in great detail on any device. The Art Project currently features over 500 works from the museum’s collection highlights and the Cincinnati Wing collection.

Featured Art Experiences

One of the museum’s most beloved paintings, Vincent van Gogh’s Undergrowth with Two Figures, is now featured as a “Gigapixel Image,” photographed in ultra-high resolution, allowing users to examine the rich details, exquisite texture and intricacy of this recently-conserved work.

The Google Art Project Street View team also mapped the Cincinnati Art Museum so visitors can now virtually tour our galleries with 360-degree panoramic views.

The Art Project allows us as an institution to showcase our world-class collection, fulfilling our mission to bring people and art together. It is an invaluable resource to educators, students and art enthusiasts alike. Teachers are already using the Art Project to supplement learning in their classrooms as the education section provides a multitude of ideas and resources that can be utilized in a variety of learning environments.
