Step inside the story of the Damascus Room as educators explore the museum’s multi-year effort to conserve one of its most beloved and historically rich spaces. Made of intricately decorated wooden panels, dating to as early as 1712, this is a remarkable example of the luxurious interiors once found in the homes of eighteenth-century Damascus, Syria. Participants will enjoy dinner, a presentation, a guided tour of the Islamic Art gallery, and a behind-the-scenes experience in the conservation lab.

About Evenings for Educators

A monthly professional development that explores visual art through a STREAM-focused interdisciplinary lens, welcoming educators of all disciplines and supporting teachers at every stage of their careers—from emerging to experienced teachers. Drawing on the museum’s collection and special exhibitions, each session offers cross-curricular insights that support a wide range of classroom and community-based learning environments. Emphasizing creative, critical, and collaborative approaches aligned with best practices in Twenty-First Century Learning strategies, the program is open to school-based and community educators alike—including teachers of all grade levels and subjects, teaching artists, pre-service education majors, volunteers, and museum professionals. 

Continuing education certificates are provided. Graduate credits are available for an additional fee through the Art Academy of Cincinnati.
